Durban — Police have opened a case of inquest after a man was found dead at a street corner in Chatsworth on Wednesday.

It is alleged that a person collapsed at the corner of Lenny Naidu Drive and Silverglen Drive.

The area was taped off and Bayview SAPS responded to the scene.

Police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo said that Bayview police were called to the corner of Silverglen and Lenny Naidu where there was a body of a 41-year-old man.

“A case of inquest was opened at Bayview SAPS for investigation,” Ngcobo said.

Last week the Daily News reported that a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death of the man whose body was found in a vehicle in Bayview, Chatsworth, over the weekend.

Ngcobo said an inquest docket was opened at Bayview police station after a man, 46, was found dead in his vehicle on September 11, 2022, in the Bayview area.

“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death.”

According to the Chatsworth Crime Watch Facebook page, it was said the deceased was Rodney from 327 flats and he was a mechanic.

Someone who commented on Facebook said that when they spoke to Rodney on Friday, he said he was not feeling well.
