Durban - KwaZulu-Natal police officers from various police stations were commended for their service excellence during the week.
On Friday, Westville SAPS station commander, Colonel Moema Diratsagae, on behalf of the district commander Major-General M Kheswa, handed over certificates to Sergeant A Coles, Sergeant NC Dlamini and Constable JD Welgemoed in appreciation for excellent arrests while executing their duties.
Diratsagae commended the members and encouraged them to keep up the excellent work.
Umlazi SAPS station commander Brigadier BH Nkabinde handed over a certificate to Detective Sergeant Z Ncwane for securing an excellent conviction of 15 years in two cases of robbery with aggravated circumstances.
Crime Prevention members Constable IS Jobe and Constable M Mchunu also received certificates for going beyond the call of duty in recovering a stolen motor vehicle and transporting the complainant from his place of residence in Phoenix to Umlazi.
They were in contact with the complainant the whole time until the vehicle was recovered and the complaint wrote to the Station Commander of Umlazi to commend the good work of these members.
Earlier, Major-General M Kheswa handed over certificates of appreciation for excellent arrests.
Warrant Officer BM Sibiya, Warrant Officer TMA Ntuli, Constable NR Zondi and Constable TLL Fynn, from the Umbilo Task Team were acknowledged for their excellent arrests for possession of unlicensed firearms, positively linked to two cases of business robber,y and a further arrest of armed robbery. Their commitment to ensuring good arrests are made whenever they are on duty was acknowledged.
