Cape Town – Accused rapist and alleged catfish, Glenville Martinus, was expected to enter a plea and sentence agreement at the Atlantis Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

A former rugby coach, Martinus is currently out on R10 000 bail. He faces five counts of rape.

Martinus has been accused of grooming and raping women he allegedly lured online by asking for nude pictures and thereafter blackmailing them into doing sexual favours.

The former rugby coach's alleged modus operandi to net his victims was that he posed as a model agent, doctor and online fitness instructor and lured a number of women by creating fake social media profiles, and soliciting nude photos and videos from them.

Investigations into the alleged crimes of the Mamre father had been conducted by the provincial Serial and Electronic Crimes Investigation FCS Unit.

Police had previously confirmed there were four case dockets with charges of using a child for child pornography, rape, extortion and sexual assault.

Another case of rape, confirmed by the National Prosecuting Authority, had been added as investigations progressed last year.

National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, said the matter had been postponed to next month.

"(The matter has been) postponed to September 22 for further plea negotiations," said Ntabazalila.

Martinus remains out on bail with strict conditions including being under house arrest. He is also prohibited from entering the Mamre community in Atlantis and may not be in contact with any of the witnesses.
