JOURNEY through creative Muizenberg and meet a variety of artists at the Muizenberg Open Studio Tour on October 11 and 12 from 10am to 4pm, starting at Bluebird Garage in Albertyn Road.
Muizenberg has a thriving creative community, with a working blacksmith forge next door to a handmade jewellery workshop and a garden cottage in between where t-shirts are printed. The area is home to a diversity of artisans all packed into under one square km.
This weekend event offes the public an opportunity to meet creators in their homes and workspaces, browse through their creations and celebrate their talent.
The walk starts at the Bluebird Garage, which exhibs art and design, and leads to Palmer Road, the heart of the heritage quarter, then up to Main Road visiting 26 venues on the way – all showing the very best in fine-art, photography, ceramics, jewellery, mosaic and collage. Visitors can also purchase art, craft and design direct from its makers. – Arts writer
