Cape Town - Like many other festivals and events making a big comeback this year in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Stellenbosch Craft Drinks Festival is also gearing to relaunch its October drinks and food festival this coming weekend.

The Stellenbosch Craft Drinks Festival (SCDF) was officially launched in 2012 as a strictly craft beer festival at the height of the craft beer craze.

However, a decade later it has become one of the most iconic foods and drinks festivals in Stellenbosch, offering festival goers brewed, distilled and crafted alcohol locally in the Western Cape and surrounds as well as a select few imports.

This year the festival will take place on Saturday, October 8, 2022, and 11 am at Jan Marais Nature Reserve in Stellenbosch.

Spokesperson for the festival Liny Kruger said this coming Saturday, the festival will once again have on offer a range of select fine craft beer, gin, mead and even honey-based alcoholic beverages, refreshing seltzers, wine, liqueurs and agave-based spirits ideal for cocktails.

She said these will be paired with the best local food truck offerings and coffee roasted in the heart of Stellenbosch.

“The craft beer experience has taken micro brewing and micro distilling to a new level in recent years, and there has been an emergence of not only craft gin, but also agave-based spirits, rum, mead and much more.

“The SCDF has played a major role in creating a platform for these artisans to exhibit their products, and we are calling on people to come and test their pallets and try new varieties,” Kruger said.

The festival’s latest addition will be a stylish non-alcoholic cocktail bar, with freshly squeezed juices, combined into perfectly balanced beverages, without the alcohol.

“The SCDF promises to have something for the whole family. Adults can come lounge in the comfort of their camping chairs while sipping on their favourite craft beverage or locally sourced wine, while Kids can enjoy a variety of carnival rides,” Kruger said.

The SCDF will also host live music from well-known artists, including Van der Aven, Emile Swiegers, Sons of Selassie, and iGniteCPT.
